Check out our tips to make hosting your next gathering a breeze.
Prepping for a dinner party or holiday gathering can be stressful and time consuming. With party season approaching, it can be easy to fall into a state of panic. Did you remember the extra ice? Did you forget that Aunt Mable can’t eat gluten? The to-do list can start to add up! But with some preparation, attention to detail and a plan in place to clean up the event, you can have just as much fun as your guests. Here are some quick and easy tips to make your next event a breeze.
As much as we love inviting friends and family into our home, there is always more prep work that goes into it than we remember. Products can help make prepping a little easier with touch faucets, pot fillers and more. Make sure to give yourself time to get everything ready. A few days to clean the house, a day or two to get the items you will need. A spreadsheet or a to-do list can be your best friend to make sure no detail goes forgotten. Don’t forget the little things like fresh cut flowers around the house, nice smelling candles in the bathroom or cleaning supplies on hand for emergency spills.
When the day of the event has arrived, don’t forget the finishing touches to make your guest feel welcome and at home. Did you remember to put hand towels in the bathroom? Did you clear space for coats? Do a walk-through from the perspective of your guest to make sure no detail goes missed and to ensure you won’t be fielding questions when you want to be having a good time at your party.
I think we can all agree cleaning up after a party is the worst. But, if you prepare and plan, it can be less of a chore. For example, make sure the dishwasher is empty so you can easily pop the dishes in as they get dirty. Make sure there are plenty of clearly labeled places for your guests to dispose of waste or recyclables. If the weather is bad, provide a place for guests to store their wet shoes to spare your carpets. Find products that provide thoughtful solutions to get your space cleaned up in no time.
Your guests have left, the kitchen is clean, and now it’s time to relax and reward yourself for all the hard work of hosting – until you do it all over again for the next special event. Pour yourself a glass of wine left over from the party and indulge in a long shower or bath.
Hosting can be stressful, but by making a plan and being flexible for any last-minute changes, your party will be great for your guests and yourself.
